I grew up in the Manawatu, and have lived in Japan, Christchurch, and the Kapiti Coast, before recently returning to the Manawatu, where I live in the picturesque Pohangina Valley with my family - comprised of one husband, two children,  a border collie and a heading dog, neither of whom can herd sheep to save themselves. We also have a small flock of Wiltshire sheep and some chickens, including Pixie, who believes she is a human. 

I gained my Masters and PhD from Canterbury University,

but earned my first degree from a university in Osaka,

Japan, where I lived for six years.
